Everyone knows Buffalo Wings, but Upstate NY cities and regions are home to very localized delicious foods:
Spiedies (Binghamton) – cubes of lamb, pork, or chicken marinated in a special sauce, grilled on skewers, and served on Italian bread
Beef on Weck (Buffalo) – roast beef on kemmelweck (a roll with kosher salt and caraway seeds) with au jus and horseradish
Sponge Candy (Buffalo) – a chocolate covered crunchy confectionary
Loganberry drinks (Buffalo) – there’s a carbonated version and a non-carbonated version, and people are particular about their brand
Garbage Plate (Rochester) – already featured on the other channel. Customizable drunk food, my favorite is baked beans, home fries, cheeseburger, white hot, onions, mustard, hot sauce
Grape Pie (Finger Lakes) – a wine growing region specialty
Chicken Riggies (Utica) – Rigatoni, chicken, hot and sweet peppers, tomato sauce
Tomato Pie (Utica) – thick crust pizza with the tomato sauce on top of the cheese
Utica Greens (Utica) – classic braised greens with cured meats, cheese, and banana peppers
Michigans (North Country) – hot dog with meat sauce, onions, and mustard
Boston Shake (Albany) – a milkshake topped with a hot fudge sundae
Ah, forget it, these foods are too good. We want to see those guys suffer.
